“Hunger Coalition Partners with the Heritage Foundation on Backpack Buddies.”
The Hunger Coalition is pleased to announce that any gifts made to The Heritage Foundation designated for use by Backpack Buddies will receive a generous match of 15% from The Heritage Foundation.

“Backpack Buddies in Jasper County Schools”

In September, The Hunger Coalition presented a check to support Backpack Buddies in Jasper County Schools. Shown above are Joe Kerr, Hunger Coalition Chairman, Jackie O’Bannon of the Antioch Education Center, and Glen Neff, Hunger Coalition board member.

“Grant to Saint James Soup Kitchen”

The Hunger Coalition presented the St. James Soup Kitchen with a grant to assist with funding their efforts to provide a nutritious luncheon at their Hilton Head facility. “HHI PGA Provides Funding”


The HHI Section of the PGA of America recently provided a $2,000 gift to support Backpack Buddies of Hilton Head and Bluffton with proceeds from their August golf tournament.

The Hunger Coalition is now a partner in “The Giving Marketplace“.
The Giving Marketplace provides access to in-depth information about area nonprofits, including financial, governance and programmatic details. Powered by GuideStar, and supported by the Community Foundation staff, the database is the largest collection of Lowcountry nonprofits available.

This powerful philanthropic tool is a resource for nonprofits, donors, funders or anyone interested in the essential services provided by our vibrant nonprofit community. Through this site, visitors will be able to access information and make credit card contributions to local nonprofit organizations. All services are completely free to the public and to participating nonprofits.

“End Childhood Hunger Week”
Hilton Head Mayor Davis Bennett will be making a Proclamation on Oct 18 establishing the week of Oct 24 through 28 as “End Childhood Hunger Week” on Hilton Head Island and supporting the work of the Hunger Coalition of the Lowcountry in addressing childhood hunger in our community. All Saints Episcopal Church Garden Tour on Saturday, May 20, 2017 (10:00-4:00). Backpack Buddies of Hilton Head was one of the grant recipients.
